I like it when you "old timers" post up. It makes my 17 years of CATM not feel as long.

There were 2 Goldies at Lackland. I was there from 80-83. Worked with henry, razzano and stewart as a "Bear Bandit" under ertner, still have my patch. Worked with anni when we moved from behind base housing to medina. Worked bullis armory with randy hall, jay richter and david rush. Back to the basic line under ron frizt with toby small. Then 5 years at greeham common UK, then back to US at vance afb OK. I do remember a curtis, did u work at bullis?

Yes, I worked out at the Bullis Armory as the field gunsmith.  Mostly just on the M-60's.  Randy and Lisa Henry are heading back to Germany in April in case folks want to know.

I started out on nights in 81 after some guys got drunk, buried a 38 in the mud at the front gate to the armory by running it over the truck. then moved to days and left there in 82 to go back to the BASIC LINE. Till I went to england in 83

I was working out there when they drove over the .38 with the truck.  We also had a slight accident during a basketball game at the armory when someone (Can't remeber the name) split his lip wide open while we played basketball.  Also someone shot a deer with his guard gun while we were delivering M-60's to the range.....Out of the cab of the truck!  I left Lackland in 89 for recruiting.  I still have ringing in my ears for that.

I used to shoot buzzards and squirres on the fence with my 22. I remember david rush taking an axe handle to a deer that got trapped in the thrid bunker fence line. I also remember steve pulsey shooting a deer from the m-60 training bus.

Hello, Is there anyone that remembers a gun smith named James (Jim) Dourghty? I knew "Jim" when he'd made Msgt. I was a Red Hat (once worked on the "Red Wing" M-60 team with "Russ Hull" before it was dis-banned) then I worked the "Basic" team. Anybody remember when the range flag pole was stolen? Or the "Hank Brown the Red Hat Clown" advertisement that was run in the Lackland base newspaper? I was there during that era. I left just on orders to RAF Alconbury England just before that Red Hat guy was convicted of sex crimes and sent to Leavenworth federal prison. That era. I was Ssgt. Carlron S. Campbell. I retired from Mather AFB in 1992. Anyone remember me or "Jim Dourghty"? I'd appreciate Jim's story. Also all my very best regards to all of you folks.

Hi there.  I worked for Jim Daugherty at the Gun Shop from 84-89.  He was known as "No Neck" by many of us as it would seem he had a shortage of neck, his shirts came right up to his ears.  However the shortage of neck was well overcome by his caring and giving personality.  He would in fact give you the shirt off his back, a warm meal or a ride no matter what time in the wee hours you would call.  The CATM and Gunsmith community lost one of its best this year.  Jim was well respected, liked by all and touched many careers.  Jim was an excellent Gunsmith and friend.  Hope this sheds some light on your inquiry.   Sorry I don't recognize your name. Curtis
